Destin Commons Shopping

Looking for a great place to shop and spend the day? Destin Commons combines shopping with entertainment options, a variety of places to eat, and an exciting events calendar.

Art at Destin Commons

Destin Commons has community-focused touches that make it a great place to visit and spend some time beyond the beach. The parking in front of the stores is charity metered in an effort called Coins for a Cause. The coins that you feed the machine will go to help feed others. How fun is that? Lively music on specially curated playlists broadcasts on outdoor speakers. Colorful murals by local and internationally renowned artists ― Daniel Fila aka Krave, DABSMYLA, Andrew Wargo and Keith Jette, Andi Scurto, and Taylor Shaw ― cover outer walls and offer fantastic backgrounds for great social media posts, if you’re so inclined: #DestinCommons.

On hot, bright days, take in a movie in the air conditioned theater. The large AMC movie theater boasts a bar serving beer and wine, arcade, IMAX screens, and those super comfy seats that recline.

Kids Play Area

Just across the way from the theater entrance is a large play area for kids. It includes a huge splash pad and one of the best playgrounds along the coast! A huge climbing area that lets kids face their fears safely. It features little landing pads (in relaxing shades of blue) that reach higher and higher into the sky, but are enclosed with rope webbing on both sides. Adjacent to this is a pirate-themed play area with a padded floor that is protected from the sun with shading. On a nearby wall, you’ll find a mural of Mattie the Giraffe riding a  high-wheeler bicycle by artist Andi Scurto. The area is surrounded by benches and Starbucks is only a few steps away. Parents can treat themselves to a coffee or a frappuccino and watch the kids run around while they relax for a few moments.

Shops at Destin Commons

The layout of this entire open-air shopping center is planned so you can easily go from store to store. Destin Commons is anchored by Belk’s on one side and Bass Pro Shops on the other. Nestled in the middle is a collection of interesting shopping experiences: fashion, toys, food, housewares and decor, beauty, jewelry, tech gadgets, books, and more. Major brands like H&M Clothing, Williams-Sonoma, Sephora, Lush, Black House White Market, and Pandora are interspersed with unique, locally-owned boutiques.

A few favorite shops:

  • IT’SUGAR, which is like a  Willy Wonka factory gift shop.

  • Earthbound Trading Company is much than a shop for your hippie friends. Explore imported arts and crafts from all over the world.

  • Sea and Sand Jewelry, a little kiosk store, is perfectly positioned for window shopping and unique, handcrafted jewelry starting at $20.

  • Southern Living, the eponymous magazine’s retail store, which “celebrates the South,” has beautiful home decor and housewares. This is one of the few brick and mortar locations nationwide.

Fish, Fun, and Food

One experience you shouldn’t miss? Saying hello to the giant fish at Bass Pro Shops. Once inside, head towards the back of the store. You can’t miss the tank.

Speaking of fish, be sure to check out Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill. This underwater-themed bowling alley adds a new dimension to the game. Who doesn’t love bowling with a ball that looks like an octopus or a fish?  Uncle Buck’s also has a full menu, a large bar and an arcade with the latest games.

If you’re hungry for something fast and crowd-pleasing: Which Wich or Zoe’s Kitchen for sandwiches, Smashburger or Johnny Rockets for burgers and diner food, Chipotle for customized burritos, RedBrick Pizza for artisanal, brick oven pizza, and Formula Fresh for cold pressed juice, smoothies, paleo, and grab-and-go meals.

For a sit-down meal with service, Divieto, El Jalisco, and World of Beer are excellent choices if you’re wanting to slow down a bit.

You might be up for a day-long adventure or a quick trip to buy what you need. No matter when you shop at Destin Commons, you’ll sure to find fashion, food, and fun.
