The Gulf restaurant is known for its eclectic design of shipping containers and salvaged building materials as much as it is for its food. The Gulf’s menu changes daily to reflect seasonal offerings, and it focuses on locally-sourced ingredients for its sandwiches, seafood, and other menu items.

Waterfront Restaurants

There’s no shortage of waterfront restaurants on Okaloosa Island, including Floyd’s Shrimp House and The Gulf. For fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine at The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island, have a meal at Rockin’ Tacos. The funky, lively atmosphere includes a DJ, beach volleyball, and access to the beach.

At the Island Time, including a tailgating area, beach access, and plenty of HDTVs and a jumbo screen, so you can cheer for your favorite sports team while enjoying burgers, fish platters, pizza, wings, buckets of beer, and three bars.

Family-Friendly Dining

Okaloosa Island restaurants include many family-friendly options to bring the kids, as well. Dock on the Island is also a great place for kids with a designated beach area just for them at Island Time.

For burgers on the Okaloosa Island Boardwalk, head over to Al’s Beach Club and Burger Bar. In addition to burgers, Al’s serves specialty sandwiches and handspun milkshakes. Al’s hosts a happy hour daily from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. and has live entertainment, as well as movies on the beach for the kids seasonally.

The Crab Trap Okaloosa Island offers seafood, a kid-inspired menu, and a take-home treat that the kids will love. Situated on The Boardwalk, The Crab Trap has access to volleyball nets, a playground, and the beach.

For something completely different, check out Asiago’s Skillet and their traditionally American breakfast platters served from midnight to noon daily.

Cocktails and Drinks

A converted beachfront room inside the Best Western, the Swizzle Stick Lounge looks like a scene out of the Jetsons with its retro-meets-futuristic decor, and it offers nightly live music and local flavor.

The Gulf offers a unique bar complete with repurposed shipping containers and communal seating, perfect for making friends while on vacation. To top it off, The Gulf curates its own collection of music on vinyl records for your listening enjoyment.

Pet-Friendly Dining

AJ’s Oyster Shanty is the best of all worlds with live music, seafood, southern food, and a kid-friendly menu that is sure to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. AJ’s also serves water to your furry friends when they dine with you outside.

Angler’s Beachside Grill takes part in the Gulf-to-Table movement, has a beachside playground for the kids, and will bring water to your pup at the outdoor seating. Angler’s serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is known for its bottomless mimosas during Sunday brunch.
