John Beasley Park: plan your perfect beach day

If you’re looking for a place to visit the beaches along the Heart of Florida’s Emerald Coast then a trip to John Beasley Park is a perfect choice. This scenic public beach access is nestled between Destin and Fort Walton Beach on the Gulf side of Okaloosa Island. The park is easy to find, conveniently located, and offers an ample amount of parking even on busy summer days.  It sits directly off Highway 98 and neighbors the Emerald Coast Visitors Center.

Upon entering John Beasley Park, you’ll find a boardwalk surrounded by white sand dunes and shaded pavilions that overlook the Gulf of Mexico. The pavilions make a lovely area to share a picnic lunch while taking a break from the sand and sun.  This vantage point is a great place to watch the sun set over the Gulf or just relax and enjoy the fresh sea-salt air.  As you head down to the beach from the walkway, you’ll notice the lifeguards stationed for your safety and an expanse of sugar-white sand to bury your feet in.  There is plenty of beach to set up your umbrella and enjoy a relaxing day in the sun or partake in fun water activities such as paddle boarding or fishing with permit.

It’s easy to spend the whole day at the beach with the amenities that the park hosts.  You’ll find freshwater showers, changing rooms, and restrooms. John Beasley Park also has beach ramps making it easily accessible beach location for disabled guests.
